Letter from the Commodore

Dear Member,

It saddens me to announce that, following the government’s decision for a planned four-week lockdown in England, the Club will close from Thursday, 5th November 2020.

That said:

  • The Club is open this Wednesday, 4th November, so DO please come at lunchtime and help us get through our Tribute keg beer, currently on tap, at the reduced price of £2 a pint. Lunch will also be available.

  • Our evening talk by Peter Harris ‘A Wayward Spirit’ will go ahead, as planned, when Peter will share humorous anecdotes from his 4 – decade career in language and tourism which has taken him to most corners of the world. Do please come and dine before the talk and help Pamela reduce the food stock in the fridge. Please book your table through the office on 01726 833573 or, [email protected]

  • We are planning that Take away meals will be available on Friday 13 November as well as on Friday 20th & 27th November, details to follow.

And, hopefully, if we come out of lockdown on, or about, Wednesday 2nd December, we shall celebrate by holding ‘The Grand Festive Quiz’ on Wednesday 9th December with proceeds going to the RNLI, one of our nominated charities.

In the meantime, do take great care, be safe and let’s hope that, all being well, we can look forward to enjoying the Christmas Festivities with friends and loved ones.

Best regards,

Chris Morris
